To screw the system so as to save yourself, or to screw yourself so as to save the system? Says 91+ years of wisdom, without hesitation, “Screw the system [and save yourself.” For a broken system is not often a system worth saving, and by saving yourself, you will more importantly reinvent the system anew. Lo, the system worth saving may ask for your sacrifice, but never to screw yourself. Not ever.

Condone a system or create a system.

Words of wisdom are easier philosophized than realized.

It isn’t for fear of the unknown that we fear death, it is for fear of losing the present that we fear not living.

The Uneducated and the Ignorant are beasts of two different orders.

Order ranks below class.

Constructive criticism is a compliment to the wise, a complaint to the fool.

《On Writing》
The joy of writing is the culmination of experience, the surprise birth of thoughts onto a world of paper; -watching, in hindsight, how the words flow, without warning. To be ready as the paper, willing as the pen.

《Of Rebels and Orderlies》

The rebel resists where the orderly conforms:
The rebel procrastinates where the orderly prepares.
The rebel is late where the orderly is early.
The rebel is rejuvenated by pressure, where the orderly relaxes before a deadline appears.

The rebel bucks the system that the orderly perpetuates:
The rebel questions what the orderly accepts.
The rebel pushes a limit that the orderly abides by.
The rebel breaks a rule that the orderly obeys.

The enforcer guards a boundary that the creator draws anew.
The enforcer respects a law that the creator passes.
The enforcer supports a law that the creator amends.

The creator and enforcer of rules also fall to rebel and orderly.
Orderlies and enforcers are followers; rebels and creators are leaders.

The horse that will buck is wild.

The horse that can buck is broken.

The horse that cannot buck is lame.

The horse that will not buck is ridden.
