《What Is, What Wills》

Once upon the deep, dwelled two pairs of seafaring lovers.

Both lived rather normal lives aboard their ships on the sea, full of ups and downs, as anyone would expect to see upon the sea.

On calm seas, both pairs made love with the illimitable passion of lovers held at bay.

But the sky does what a sky wills, and so oft brewed blackened clouds with the inevitable unknown beyond. It was in these times that the difference between the lovemakers was never more lucid.

For when the storms blew in, as only a fool could deny the inevitability of, the seasoned couple ceased their lovemaking, wisely understanding their lovemaking to be powerless against warding off the mighty storm. To them, worry was a more worthy and more rewarding charm.

The other couple continued to make love like only reckless lovers knew, much to the chagrin of the other lovers. And it was true that the lovers’ lovemaking did nary a thing to make the storm go away, to shorten the waves, or to lessen the impact.

Also true was it, that the cessation of the other lovers’ lovemaking neither did anything to encourage the passing of the storm.

For a truth is a truth as is a sail a sail. Wisdom lies in wielding a truth, not simply holding a truth.

For in the end, to the common eye, it was plain to see that lovemaking -and its lack thereof- had absolutely nary a thing to do with the coming of the storm, the size of the storm, nor the passing of the storm.

With the passing of a storm, what remained for the eye to see was but two sets of lovers at sea and two kinds of love as they so fit to see.

One, a weakened bond of fair weather lovers, who made love only when the sea was calm, losing only the opportunity to love each other through and so weather a storm together.

The other, a strengthened bond between the lovers, who made love without regard to a storm (or was it very much with regard to the storm?), losing only themselves in each other whether or not came the weather.

For a storm is what only a storm wills, and love is only what love wills.

《the way》
dear little one,
the world is yours.
the world was yours
even before you belonged
to it.
it was, is, and will be
your redemption as often
as it will be your nemesis.
do not be afraid, for fear
will not carry your burdens
nor will it shelter you
from the elements.
have hope as much as will
allow triumph
over the ills of present,
but none so much that
you deceive yourself
of the realities of the future
or the consequences of the past.
days of sorrow will weave
a tight knit alongside joy,
neither with warning
nor with limitation.
you shall persist because
you know of nothing else,
not only because you will it.
for as a mortal, possibility
is as finite only as is time.
what tomorrow will bring you,
yesterday has already taken
away, with a fluidity that
surprises with subtlety.
you will love and hurt,
feel pain and transfer pain.
you will always forgive
because the alternative
is no alternative.
fairness and justice
will oft be at odds
with one another and for you.
you will not always deserve
your destiny, but you will
decide not to deny it.
for tonight, the sun sets low,
but tomorrow, high,
high shall the sun rise up.
oh, little one, until tomorrow,
good night.

Love accepts you for all that you are (in spite of all that you are not) and challenges you to be all that you can be (in spite of all that you could be).

Apologies cannot be demanded, only accepted.

One need not beware to be aware.

The fool beware, the wise are aware.

To love freely is not enough; one must love truly.

People are living books.

Wishes are for wells.

If love is a furnace, trust is the insulation.

Peace begins with patience.

It is not enough to not hurt another on purpose; we must love one another with purpose.

One doesn’t need to love in order to be loved, nor does one need to be loved in order to love.

A dictatorship oppresses with directives commanded, a democracy suppresses with directives concealed.

A small potato only grows into a big potato.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, any more than two hates make a love.

The fool’s idea of freedom is a world without rules and the fool’s idea of power is to rule the world.

A world without enforcement is but a world without rules.

Freedom must reach all, if it is to touch even one.

The fool love a home without leaving it; the wise love a home by returning to it.

Lofty and crooked,
united yet divided –
rainbow in the sky.

《wind》
The wind never stops
pausing only to enjoy
the beauty of stillness.

Judge only those with whom you can empathize.

Tomorrow will not feed the hunger of today.

Worry only of today’s hunger, and tomorrow will feed itself.

If one follows their gut, they will always have guts.

When information is framed, only education is tied, only knowledge sentenced, only wisdom slain.

Excuse befits the guilty; truth befits the innocent.

Hold a man to his capacity to err, and he will fail; hold the same man to his level of ability, and he will succeed.

When the Future quarrels with the Present, only the Past has the last word.

Complaining differs from venting, in that, it is with ability and without action to resolve the matter.

To be a friend, one must not lend a shoulder to lighten the burden, only lend an ear to lessen the brooding.

An omelette is not made by wishing for eggs.

Brilliant words only after brilliant eyes and brilliant ears.

《the night》
the night is a fickle lover
longing and lingering and
leaving me to morn.

《couth》
If one articulates
In triplets, would you say
one is high couth?

What is decided by money alone is not a decision, but an excuse.

Security lays a poor foundation for love.

When top-secret proclaims security, truth heralds treason.
